v0.1.7Latest release

ZaneShot 0.1.7

ZaneShot 0.1.7

Build 11 · macOS 14 or later · Apple Silicon and Intel

What's new

  • Combine screenshots on one canvas with Add Capture in the editor toolbar.
  • Paste, drag in, or choose PNG and JPEG images to add overlays. Move and resize them, adjust their opacity, and change their order with Bring Forward and Send Backward.
  • The canvas expands to fit added images, with annotations kept above image overlays.
  • New ZaneShot logos for light and dark mode, plus a monochrome menu bar icon. The running app's Dock icon follows the system appearance.

Fixes

  • Arrows use the same drawing code in the editor and exported image, including curved paths, arrowheads, borders, and shadows.
  • Area captures crop directly from native display pixels to preserve sharp text and small details.
  • Small screenshots open at native display size instead of being enlarged automatically.
  • Screenshot saves and thumbnail drag exports use lossless PNG by default. JPEG remains available through Save As.
  • Blur and pixelation apply to the combined image, including overlays.

Download verification

Both downloads contain the Developer ID signed, Apple notarized app.

v0.1.6

ZaneShot v0.1.6 (Build 10)

ZaneShot 0.1.6

Build 10 · macOS 14 or later · Apple Silicon and Intel

What's new

  • Spotlight annotations keep rectangular or oval areas clear while dimming the rest of the screenshot. Add multiple clear areas, adjust dimming, and move or resize each spotlight.
  • Press Command-S to save edits to the current screenshot without closing the editor. Save As creates a separate PNG or JPEG copy.
  • Editor toolbar buttons show descriptions immediately on hover, including keyboard shortcuts where available.
  • The save folder setting is now labeled "Screenshots folder". Recordings are also stored there.

Fixes

  • Clicked text starts at the text cursor instead of being centered around the click.
  • Text selection and resize guides remain visible while typing and after finishing an edit.
  • Changing the font or font size automatically fits the text box to its content.
  • Text preview sizing now respects cropped screenshots.
  • If saving fails, Done keeps the editor open so the edits remain available.

v0.1.5

ZaneShot v0.1.5 (Build 9)

ZaneShot 0.1.5

Build 9 · macOS 14 or later · Apple Silicon and Intel

What's new

  • First-capture onboarding guides new users through activation, Screen Recording access, an area screenshot, annotation, and dragging the edited thumbnail to share. It resumes after a permission-related restart, and the menu bar keeps a way to retry.
  • The screenshot editor has six new gradients and four new solid backgrounds. Padding now goes up to 600 and corner radius to 400, with Step annotation numbers centered in their circles.
  • Menu bar capture and recording actions show their configured keyboard shortcuts.
  • Settings now includes uninstall instructions and a link to contact support.

Fixes

  • Full-screen recording excludes ZaneShot's camera bubble from the captured screen, preventing it from appearing twice when the recording overlay is added.

The download is signed and notarized for direct installation outside the Mac App Store.

v0.1.4

ZaneShot v0.1.4 (Build 8)

ZaneShot 0.1.4

Build 8.

  • Move screenshot and recording thumbnails anywhere on screen by dragging them. Use the new "×" button to dismiss a thumbnail without deleting the capture, or drag the share icon to share its file.

  • Use screenshot annotation tools immediately with default styles. Tool settings now appear below the main toolbar, keeping the screenshot visible while you edit.

  • Select Text and start typing, or click to place text. Adjust color, size, border, and shadow afterward.

  • Improved scrolling capture alignment, handling of small scroll movements, and stitching on long webpages. Long captures scale to fit output limits instead of stopping at the previous height limit.

  • Finish remains available when scrolling frames lose alignment. If the full capture cannot be stitched, ZaneShot lets you save the captured sections or discard them.

  • Export file size estimates now use sample encodes with the selected export settings for more realistic results.

  • Fixed a crash when closing the screenshot editor with unfinished text.

Supports Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 14 or later.
